Kathryn Black

Appearance: Slightly on the tall side with wavy reddish brown hair, and bright blue eyes. She wears bright purple Dr-martin boots that always seem to stick out from beneath her gowns. She has a bright smile and a cheeky grin. She also has many facial expressions, mostly that involve a raised eyebrow.

Family Background: Kat recently had a revelation about her parents. Up until the end of her 3rd year Kat had known her parents as Myriam and Sothis Black, who are of mixed heritage. They both live mostly in the wizarding world now though because Myriam has taken to being a housewife since her children were born. Before that, she used to write something called 'software' for some things called 'computers'. They have one at home, and occasionally Myriam does some work for companies from home. That means we also have a 'telephone' so that she can connect to the muggle world. It's a little difficult to understand if you're not a muggle. Sothis works for the MoM in the antiquities department. He always liked history, and occasionally gets to go abroad and study ancient ruins of both muggle and wizarding origin. When he does go away, he often sends Kat little gifts specific to the place that he has been.

At the end of her third year Kat found out by accident that her father was in fact THE Sirius Black. The story goes that Sirius had met Astrid in Sweeden before the great war. They had fallen in love, but before they could marry Sirius was summoned back to England by Dumbledore. At the end of the war Sirius had taken on a disguise that eminated from a ring that he wears to escape from Azkaban and thus he had become Sothis. He had returned to Sweeden to find Astrid, but she had vanished. During his search he met Myriam who had also lost a loved one in the war. They had helped each other to try and find those they had lost, but ended up falling in love. Myriam had a small son call Matthew when she met Sirius. Meanwhile Astrid had married a wizard called Dafydd Grimalkin who she claimed was father to her son. In fact it has now been proved that her child, Anders Grimalkin, is really the son of Sirius Black.

So Kat infact has two half brothers. Matt has completed his NEWTs with good marks and has taken a job in the ministry until he can find something better. He resents Anders because he is the true son of the father that he thought was his own. Anders, meanwhile has taken up the study of Law, as well as part time Quidditch coach to the hogwarts school team. Kat gets on well with both her brothers and wishes that they would just get on with one another. As for her parents, Kat is very close to her dad, but she and her mum are too alike and argue almost constantly.

Talents/Special Abilities: Kat's speciality in magic is borrowing. It involves borrowing the mind of another being to allow her to see things she might otherwise have missed. She has also experimented with mind share, which had bad consequences at the time. She ended up being stuck with a semi-permanent link to Marvo's betrothed Nimue! She hopes that she can learn more about that trick before trying it again. Another skill that she has recently gained is drawing. This was after she performed a mix between borrowing and mind share when she and her best friend, Joss borrowed her cat Scully to try and find out what was going on in the forbidden forest. Joss was sadly killed by a servant of Vordlemort last term, but Kat did retain Joss' ability for drawing.

Other Information: She has a few bad points in that she can get highly emotional and sometimes end up saying things that she really should not. She is getting better at noticing this tendency though and although she cannot stop herself doing it, she does apologise afterwards.

She likes reading. Not necessarily text books, more often both wizarding and muggle fiction books. She has a bad habit of buying far too many. She also likes quidditch and likes to show off when she flies, especially if she can persuade her cats to sit on the back of her broom. She likes animals too, and always has far too much of a soft spot for them. In fact, you can tell that by her wand and it not only charms dangerous animals, but also the tamer ones.

She also has a boyfriend called Marvo D. Ward (Actually called Malcom, but he hates that name.) He is quite cute if a little naive. He is also an Auror in training. He was unfortunately betrothed to Nimue Hawkwood in an arranged marriage. However this has now been disolved allowing him and Kat to have a normal girlfriend / boyfriend relationship. At least as normal as a girl can have with a trainee auror.
