1) In this universe, Harry Potter and his friends do not exist, even
though some teachers and incidental characters do.
2) All teachers and incidental characters are played only by
moderators as required and should not be used by members unless with
permission.
3) No member may run more than 3 characters. However, no more than 2
characters should take a large role at any one time.
4) No force play is allowed except with the express permission of the
RPer in question or a moderator. Please include an OC note at the
top of the message to advise that you have received permission.
Some mild force play will be permitted as long as this privilege is not over used.
(For those that don't know... force play is counted as moving another players
character, having them speak or assuming a reaction.)
5) When replying, please leave the previous character's post that you
are replying to at the bottom and put your response at the top. All
other material can be removed. (This may not be netiquette, but it
makes transcription and RP a little easier)
6) Please sign your characters name, year and house at the bottom of
mails in order to help new members to learn who you are.
7) Please label all Out of Character (OC) comments in your posts as
such.
8) Please keep as much of the OC chat that you need to do in the
oc-hogwarts group to avoid unnecessary clutter in the game areas.
9) All plot and special characters must be run past one of the
moderators before proceeding. Special items should also be agreed with
a moderator... for example an invisibility cloak or extra magical
ability should be cleared along with anything that might be more
unusual.
10) If embarking on a long conversation between two characters it is
suggested that the discussion be performed off list, for example in
the chat room, and then posted to the group in chunks to avoid large
amounts of posts.
11) The material used in posts should take into consideration other
players, and take account of the fact that this group is rated PG13.
This also means that swearing is not allowed.
12) Adequate time should be allowed for players to respond. Please
consider that other players are located all over the world logging on
at different times.
13) If you know you are going to be away for a period of time, you
should advise a moderator or the group that your character may be
temporarily moved about by other players if they are needed.
You may
also name a specific player to 'temp' your character with their
agreement. Alternatively you can 'park' your character where they will
not effect or be effected by other characters, for example in the
infirmary or 'off-stage'.
14) Please consider others when posting, and keep the content concise.
Show us the things that we can see rather than a story of the characters
every thought and feeling. Although some thoughts and feelins are always
good as they can been seen in the characters appearance and are good
clues for others to respond.
15) Anime style characters and super hero characters are not allowed!
16) All special character items and abilities will be handed out through the
moderators depending on character interaction and role play merit. These include
the following and anything similar: super powers, animagi, unusual advanced spells
(although fluke occurances of spells is acceptable), parcel tongue, invisibility
cloaks and other special magical items, fire magic, borrowing, auror abilities,
unusual pets (ie not a cat, rat, toad or owl), precognition, dream prediction and
dream walking. Others may be included in this list as they are thought of.
If you really want to be given a special item or ability then please contact one of
the moderators with your request. It may or may not be accepted depending on the
spread of other items or abilities already in use.
